CVT Ethiopia was registered as an NGO in Ethiopia in June 2013 originally as the Center for Victims of Trauma, and then changed its name to its internationally known name, the Center for Victims of Torture, in August 2019. The CVT Ethiopia program is designed to provide capacity building and direct services in trauma-informed MHPSS services, aimed to address the psychosocial needs of survivors of severe trauma. This is done through intensive training and supervision of professionals and para-professionals in MHPSS sectors and other service providers by expert professionals, as well as provision of psychotherapy, trauma-focused physiotherapy, trauma-resiliency interventions, psychoeducation, and community work for survivors and their families who are experiencing debilitating symptoms due to their trauma histories.
